This is a route file to Scafell Pike, highest peak in England, in the Lake District. The route is a loop hike starting at Seatoller on the road south of Keswick past Derwentwater Lake. Waypoint SC01 is at the road junction near the bus stop. Hike or drive south on the paved road to the farm. SC02 is at a gate at the farm. Go south and cross over the Stockley Bridge heading southwest up the slope. Continue south in a valley passing a bridge and lakes to a junction by a stretcher box, SC05. From here go east over a small hill and down to a junction and turn right (south) onto the corridor route. This route requires some scrambling in two places. At a junction, SC08, go right toward Lingmell Col. At the col join a trail coming up from the south and turn east up the final rocky ridge to the summit. From the top head northeast and pick up a trail down to a saddle then climb up boulders to a flatter shelf, waypoint SC12. Continue on the trail down to a saddle then up to a broad plateau. The trail is easy to follow to a junction at a place called Esk Hause. Turn left and head west down to a junction by a stream, SC16. Turn right here crossing the steam and head north, descending steadily in a valley until you come back to the Stockley Bridge. This is a pleasant loop hike that will take about 7 hours. 9/03 RLC
