The GPS ignores this text when loading route. These waypoints were saved during a climb of Preston Peak on August 21-23,2005. The trailhead is reaching by driving east on road 18N07, known as the Knopki Creek Road, which is 6.5 miles south of the California line on highway 199. There is a junction with 18N11 at 6.0 miles and another junction with 18N02 at 13.5 miles. The new trailhead is reached after 14.2 miles. The road is graded and good for most vehicles. Walk on the old road to the old trailhead (PRES01). From here follow the road down into Youngs Valley. You'll pass a small stream (PRES02) and a trail junction. There is a sign for Youngs Valley at PRES04. Go left toward Raspberry Lake passing by an old mining area. PRES07 is a camp area on the north side of the lake. From here head west through the brush to the ridgetop (PRES08). Follow the ridge south going by P6121ft. shown on the map to a saddle (PRES10). Follow cairns up the ridge staying mostly close to the ridge top deviating slightly to the right or left sides. There is some scrambling over boulders and slabs, but nothing very difficult or exposed. The summit is at PRES14. From the lake the climb takes about four hours up and 3 1/2 hours down. The gain is 2300ft. 9/05 RLC
