The GPS seems to ignore this text when loading route. These waypoints were taken during a climb of Mt.Olympus on 17 August, 2001. The starting point was the square in the town of Litochoro on the east side of Mt.Olympus. The trailhead (367 meters) was west of the town by a cafe and is the start of the hike along the Enipeus Canyon to Prionia. The trail crosses the river seven times with good bridges. At Prionia (1100 meters) there is a restaurant and spring. There is a road from Litochoro up to this point if you wish to shorten the hike. From Prionia the trail is good and ascends up to Refuge A (2070 meters). From the Refuge the trail climbs up to the ridge with a junction at OLY14 for a trail to Refuge C. Go left at this point. Further up there is a sign and junction (OLY16), go right at this point. Stay on the highest trail along the ridge and head north to a minor peak (OLY17). You will not see the highest summit until you reach this point. The prominent peak Skolio will be off to your left. From here drop down to the east side and traverse north below the ridge. There is a climb to a high point of a rib at OLY18 with some exposed scrambling down from here before one ascends the final bowl to the top and the Mitikas summit at 2918.8 meters (9576 feet). Note:Before loading this into your GPS, check that the unit is set to WGS84 and set the display to ddd.mm.ss. The display will then match the map "Olymbos", a 1:50,000 scale map by Road Editions of Greece. This map is available at shops in Litochoro for 1500 Drachmas.
