The GPS seems to ignore this text when loading route. These waypoints were taken during a climb of Mt.Erciyes 21-22 July, 2002. Waypoint ER001 is the mountain hut at the ski area at the pass south of the town of Kayseri. This can be reached by minibus from the town. The elevation at the hut is listed as 2215 meters. You can ride the two chair lifts or hike up to the top of the chair lifts. From there head mostly west and somewhat north to the camp area by aqueducts at ER004. ER003 is on the road part way there. ER005 is a small camp area for two tents closer to the ridge. There may not be water at this site. The waypoints follow the ridge which you climb up to at the southeast end. Then follow the ridge west over several minor peaks. The ridge turns north and drops to a saddle then up to a face blocking progress. You can scramble up this face (3rd to easy 4th class) or go west around it then up loose talus slopes to the higher ridge. The east summit is ER011 which has a register. Most climbers are satisfied with this. The true summit is west and appears to be maybe 80 meters higher. One guidebook says it is quite loose so care is needed. A rappel is done to get down. Note:Before loading this into your GPS, check that the unit is set to WGS84 and set the display to UTM. You can change it to latitude/longitude later if you want.
