The starting point is on the road in the Chiricahua Monument at a samll parking area (COH00). Walk down the road to the chained side road to start the hike. Walk up the road past a gate to the mine area at COH03. Then follow the road east until it ends and start on the use trail heading north along the east side of a ridge. At the end of the ridge reach a saddle at COH05 with signs. Continue on the trail heading northeast on a ridge and go over three small peaks. The last of the peaks is waypoint COH06. Then descend and go up to the north side of the rock pinnacles that are the chin and lips. Stay on a use trail on the north side to a saddle east of the nose at COH08. Then in the saddle find a use trail going west up to the summit. This route is 7.6 miles round-trip with a gain of about 2500 ft. Allow about 3 1/2 hours to the top and 3 hours return. 10/2003 RLC
