From the Inyo County line sign, north of Trona, drive 6.4 miles to the Homewood Canyon Road and turn left(ARG00). Drive in 4.9 miles to the end of the pavement just west of the Ruth Mine and continue 0.75 miles to a four-way junction at the base of a hill and park. (ARG00) Hike over the steep hill and down to the canyon bottom and turn right on the sandy road. The road ends at a wash(ARG02). Cross the wash and go southwest on a use trail up the steep ridge. ARG03 is a small flat area on the ridge. Go left on a trail around pinnacles and climb up to a higher flat area(ARG04). Continue up past point 5216ft. and go more westerly up the slopes past ducks(ARG05). Follow the well placed cairns up through the rock to the top where you go east under a large rock and through a small canyon. On the other side turn right across boulders and back onto solid dirt heading south once again. Out on the flat rock is waypoint ARG07. Go south descending aross a broad high saddle and up slopes to more rock watching for ducks. On top the register is at a pole and the benchmark is further west on a pinnacle. This route is 3.4 miles one-way with a gain of 3100ft. Allow 3 1/2 hours for the ascent and 2 3/4 hours to return. 4/2004 RLC
