Lyons Peak Lookout is in good condition, but is not an active fire lookout. The lookout tower was built in 1964. There have been four different lookout structures at the summit with the first in the 1910's making Lyons one of the earliest permanent fire detection sites in California. The lookout is on the National Historic Lookout Register #754. Photo taken in September, 2003.
