A more recent photo taken September 19, 2011. The lookout on duty that day was Eric Olson who has been there for about nine years. The first lookout here was in place by 1925. It was a 60 foot high wooden tower with unroofed platform. The second tower constructed in 1931 had a 7 foot square cab atop a steel tower. The latest tower is 40 feet high with a 14 foot square cab and catwalk. This lookout in now on the National Historic Lookout Register #1186.
Elizabeth benchmark is directly under the tower and was placed in 1946. Datasheet: JS3970
