This is view of Barker Peak showing the summit where the lookout was. The peak was originally known as Barton Peak and had a wooden lookout structure. The lookout building was dismantled from nearby Black Mountain and set up on then Barton Peak by the CCC in 1935. By 1970 this lookout had been removed. In the back is Kitching Peak in the San Bernardino Mountains. Photo taken March 15, 2013.
This is the foundation of the 10 foot square wooden cab that was on the summit from 1935 to sometime in the late 1960's.
The benchmark near the foundation is named Barton, placed in 1931.
